The North West Region Championship was held on Lake Brownwood October 12-13, 2019. The anglers were met with the strongest cold front of the year on the second official practice day and started the tournament on Day #1 with 40 degree temperatures. Despite the weather most anglers managed to catch some fish.
Troy Montgomery end up in first place on the boater side with a two-day total of 23.61 lbs. Troy also had big bass on Day #1 (4.03 lbs) and Day #2 (4.28 lbs). Troy will be representing the North West Region as a boater at the 2020 Central Regional as part of the Texas State Team. Congrats Troy! Andy Ortega, North West Region Angler of the Year, finished a close second with 21.23 lbs. Third place in the boater division went to Bryan Schmidt with 17.04 lbs.
On the non-boater side Brandon Soliz took first place with a two-day total of 14.60 lbs. Brandon will be joining Troy at the 2020 Central Regional as part of the Texas State Team on the non-boater side. Great job Brandon! Tom Enloe took second place non-boater with 10.21 lbs and Glenn Hahn ended up in third place with 9.63 lbs despite never fishing the lake before.
I want to thank all the anglers for coming out and supporting the North West Region this year. I would also like to encourage all North West Region members to fish the State Championship this coming year. All you have to do is be a BASS member, pay your state and national dues, and be in good standing with your affiliated club! Hope to see you on the water!
