The Northwest Region held tournaments April 17th & 18th on what is arguably the hottest big bass lake in the nation right now and O.H. Ivie did not disappoint! Anglers were met with cold front conditions during practice and day #1 of competition before clearing skies on day #2. But the big ones were biting!
Wendell Ramsey brought in a five bass limit weighing 33.08 lbs to take the day #1 win. Wendell anchored his limit with not one, but two, 9 pounders!
On day #2 Troy Montgomery did a little showing off himself bringing in 27.84 lbs to take the win. Troy anchored his limit with the big bass of the day weighing 9.81 lbs! Just for good measure he threw in another 8-9-pound class fish as well.
Without a doubt the big story of the weekend was day #1’s big bass brought in by last year’s angler of the year Grayson Morrow. Grayson’s fish of a lifetime weighed in at 14.63 lbs! This has to be one of the largest bass ever weighed-in at a Texas B.A.S.S. Nation event. The fish measured 27 ¾ inches in length and had a girth of 21 ½ inches. After pictures were taken, and Grayson settled down, the big girl was returned to the lake in good shape for another lucky angler to catch. Congratulations Grayson!
