The Northwest Region held its final regional tournament of the year on E.V. Spence, May 21st. This little west Texas reservoir may not be as well-known as O.H. Ivie, but let me tell you it’s full of big healthy bass! Almost every angler had a limit and everyone caught fish.
Derrick Ard set the bar high bringing in his personal best 5-fish limit of 27.93 lbs! Derrick’s bag included two fish over seven pounds with one of them taking Big Bass of the tournament at 7.58 lbs. Great job Derrick!
Second place belonged to Floyd Kaerwer with a total weight of 23.20. Floyd’s bag also included a nice 7.16-pound fish. Third place went to Charles Coger with 21.05.
There were 79 fish caught with a total weight of 279 pounds. That is an average fish weight of 3.53 lbs. I don’t know any bass fisherman that wouldn’t love that!
A very close Angler of the Year race was also settled at this tournament. Jacob Sepeda secured the AOY title by bringing in 19.88 lbs. Jacob fished tough at every tournament this year and the Angler of the Year title is well deserved. Congratulations Jacob!
