Big Bass
TBTT Team Standings
Lake Limestone is a sleeper big bass lake!! TBN has been coming here for several years and it always takes 20 lbs plus to win. Not this time……it took 30! This was an awesome stop on the 2022 Texas Bassmaster Tournament Trail BIG BASS TOUR.
Tournament day started out at 66 degrees. Nice and brisk for a summer day in Texas. It wouldn’t last long though. Temps peaked at 95…now back to regular programming. Add a 15-20 mph wind and yep, it’s summer time!!
It was a magical day for Randy Knight and Michael Curtsinger to say the least. Randy was excited at weigh-in; “This was the best day of tournament fishing I’ve experienced in a long time”. We had a 17-18 lb limit early on carolina rigs and crank baits at our first spot. The bite slowed down so we went to our second spot. Michael made the first cast with a 6XD and caught a 5 pounder. I got started culling and Michael kept catching them. He kept me busy for 30 minutes solid. Every fish he caught would upgrade our bag. Unbelievable day!!!
And so it was. With a five fish stringer Randy and Michael had a total of 31.46 lbs with a 7.46 lb kicker. Fantastic first place finish gentlemen!!
Second place went to the team of Colby Bryant and Wesley Baxley, also with a 5 fish limit that weighed 17.90 lbs. Their big bass was 5.38 lbs. This is a respectable bag in any event on any lake. Congratulations Colby & Wesley.
Third place went to the Team of Stephen Farrar and Robert Brown with five fish that weighed 15.87 lbs.
Thanks for fishing the Texas Bassmaster Team Trail this year. The Championship is scheduled for September 10-11, 2022 at Jackson Hill Marina on Sam Rayburn.
Look forward to seeing you there!!
