The Southeast Region held its fourth event this past Saturday, April 21, starting the second half of the 2018 season. With looming weather on Saturday, we still had a 98 angler turnout on Lake Conroe with a new weigh-in venue at Lakeview Marina on the south end. Most pre-fishing reports were that the bite was tough.
Tournament day proved to great for some, not so much for others. While the south winds made it tough for the field, the tournament and Big Bass weights were up for those at the top, but only 14 out of the 98 angler field managed to find limits, and only 30% of the field did not manage to find any “Conroe (16”) keepers”.
The BASS Club angler Jody Rhoden, who is no stranger to finishing in the top of our events, managed to dominate the field with his 33.14 bag, anchored by a 7.93 toad. Jody’s win also moved him to the Number 1 spot in the Angler Of The Year race.
Houston Bass Bandit angler Nathan Perdue also managed to find a limit with his 21.16 pound limit, followed by 3rd place Brazos Angler, Nick Diberardino with 20.90.
Lake Conroe did not disappoint in the Big Bass department as we had seven fish weighed in over 7 pounds. Big Bass honor was earned by Brazos Angler James Martin with 9.59. 2nd Big Bass went to The BASS Club angler Brian Jones with a 7.93.
Thank you to Seven Coves Bass Club and The BASS Club for assisting at Lake Conroe. Special thanks to Lakeview Marina for hosting the tournament as well.
The Southeast Regions stop #5 will be on Richland-Chambers Reservoir, in just three weeks on May 12, out of Oak Cove Marina. See you at RC!
