Rodriguez & Watkins Win South Event on Amistad
After a month break, this weekend found the South Region on Amistad Reservoir for a doubleheader. Saturday was sunny and “breezy” with southwesterlies building throughout the day to a steady 20.
Daniel Rodriguez sorted through big numbers of short fish to put together a winning weight of #11.13.
Robert Brieden was a close 2nd with #11.05 and his #6.37 kicker was Saturday’s Big Bass, all flipping a pumpkin craw in standing timber.
Cory Leita brought home 3rd with #10.70.
Sunday the wind dropped a bit while the temperature climbed with the high in the upper 90s
Ryan Watkins threw a 8” swimbait all day to bring in the winning bag of #11.26. Bruce White was a pound back with #10.26 for 2nd place, and Craig Crim was a close 3rd with #10.23. Ted Sprencel brought in Sunday’s Big Bass of #4.16.
View full results for both days and Year to Date standings on the Tournaments page.
22 May will be our next event at Choke Canyon.
Thanks gents for your help.

Researchers are collecting data on hyperpigmentation/melanosis, a.k.a Blotchy Bass Syndrome, in freshwater bass species associated with a virus.
The virus has never been identified in humans or common domestic pets. As long as the fish are in good condition, they’re safe to handle and eat if cooked properly.
