North East Region Report
Covaid-19 has Created a new normal for Bass Fishing!!!!
This report will cover our last two tournaments on Cedar Creek and Bob Sandlin.
Cedar Creek May 17;
The pleasure Boaters were out in full force creating a wash tub effect which made rising sea wall almost impossible! There went my pattern!
Dale Jackson used his swim Bait to catch first place with 16.90 lbs. Very Close behind him was our new angler from the east coast Jeff Lugar with 16.00 lbs. Jeff also brought in 5.10 lb fish for big bass honors. I heard he was throwing a bladed jig around anything that had water around it.
Chad Petrie came in third with 12.20 lbs. Chad would not divulge what he was doing because he said he had another tournament next week.
Rounding out the top four was our tournament Director Cecil Tubb with four that went 9.37 lbs. Cecil said Donna his wife told him to throw brush hogs around boat docks with brush on them. Good advice Donna!
Bob Sandlin May 31; This was a make up tournament we got in to make our season have 4 derbys. Our top twenty will vote for the Championship lake TBD. The Date will be the August 29 + 30.
First place whet to Mr. Coy Fraizer 20.60 lbs. All I know was he did not catch them throwing a Carolina Rig?
Second Place went to Colton Harvick after he had a baby three week ago (His wife had the Baby)! Congratulations on the new born and 15.33 lbs of fish throwing a deep dividing crank bait on long sloping points. Colton also had a 5.56 beauty!
Third Place went to Jacob Johnson 14.95 lbs. Not sure what Jacob was throwing and no-one wants to know what third place was doing anyhow.
Keith Glasby had Fourth place nailed down with a sack that went 13.79 lbs. I saw three Rattle Traps tied on the rods he had on the front deck ???
Jon Harshbarger took Fifth place with 11.67 lbs flipping junk. However Jon Harshbarger is our Angler Of The Year!!! Congratulations on another great year!!!

Texas BASS Nation vs. COVID-19
Texas B.A.S.S. Nation,
Over the past couple of months our way of life has been turned upside down to say the least. This Covid-19 pandemic has thrown up road blocks in our daily tasks such as work, going to stores, going to restaurants and even having tournaments. To combat this pandemic National, State and Local governments put in place mandates that required the Texas B.A.S.S. Nation to shut down all affiliated events until the mandates are lifted.
Effective on May 1, 2020 most of the more restrictive mandates were lifted both Nationally and by the Texas Governor. With this news and an email from B.A.S.S. we were given the green light to resume scheduled events as long as we comply with the mandates still in effect. The Region directors will ensure that all clubs are advised of the special guidelines that will be in place at events so we comply with Governor Abbott’s Executive Order (https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-issues-executive-order-to-expand-openings-of-certain-businesses-and-activities). We, the Texas B.A.S.S. Nation, will comply with these orders and in doing so implement special guidelines that will be followed at each event until the mandates are lifted and our anglers are no longer at risk of contracting this virus. Failure to comply is not an option.
Several events were postponed/canceled during March and April. Most of these events have been re-scheduled. Some will not be re-scheduled. Each Region director will try to get as many events in as possible for the 2020 season but they may need to reduce the number of qualifying events and make special exceptions in the Region qualifying requirements.
The TBTT trail will be reduced this season to two qualifying events. The Conroe TBTT was held back in February but the March and April events had to be cancelled. The final qualifier will be held on June 20, 2020 at Possum Kingdom Lake as scheduled. Modifications have been made in the rules. Any team that fished the Conroe event or fishes the Possum Kingdom event will qualify for the TBTT Championship. The TBTT Championship date has been changed to September 12-13, 2020 on Lake Limestone due to issues with support from the local community. For 2020 there will not be a Team of the Year Award and the “Alternate” option will not be in effect.
Myself and the staff of the Texas B.A.S.S. Nation want to thank all members in advance for helping with our quest to salvage the 2020 season.
Sincerely,
David Glezman
TBN President
